Genoa eyes €10m Marseille loan to fill attacking void ahead of pre‑season
Genoa are looking to plug a clear attacking gap as they assemble their pre‑season squad, and the club have set their sights on Hamed Junior Traore. The Ivory Coast forward is expected in Italy on Monday for a medical, a step that would complete a loan with an option to buy from Olympique Marseille for up to €10m.
The initial report of the deal came from France, with Footmercato suggesting a cost of around €8m. , Sport and Tuttomercatoweb report a figure closer to €10 million, including add‑ons and the loan fee, confirming the financial framework of the move.
If the medical in Italy goes smoothly on Monday, Traore will sign the contract and then travel to join Daniele de Rossi’s Genoa squad at their pre‑season camp in Moena. The Italian side are prepared to meet the €10m ceiling, reflecting their commitment to the transfer.
The 26‑year‑old Ivory Coast international began his career in the Empoli academy before spells at Sassuolo, Napoli and Auxerre. He was sold to Bournemouth in 2023 for €25.6m, saw his progress stall through repeated injuries, and moved to Marseille for €7.7m.

A successful medical will allow the loan with an option to buy to be finalised, paving the way for Traore to contribute to Genoa’s upcoming campaign.
