Vitesse turn to German striker Probst to fire Eredivisie return
Vitesse have turned to a German striker to bolster their Eredivisie push. Eduard Probst (25) arrives at the club on a free transfer from SV Rödinghausen, where he was prolific last season.
The 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract in Arnhem with an option for a further season. He will immediately join the first-team squad under head coach Rüdiger Rehm. Probst is expected to add goals for Vitesse.
Last season, Probst scored nineteen goals in thirty-six league matches. He finished as the Regionalliga West’s top scorer.
“I am a physically strong striker who wants to get into the penalty area as quickly as possible,” Probst said. “In transitions, I like to stretch play and try to create danger with my movement. My biggest strength is finishing chances, but I also work hard for the team. I look forward to showing what I can do at Vitesse.”
Rehm welcomed the deal. “With Eduard, we are bringing in a different type of striker. He brings physicality, depth and scoring ability, which he demonstrated last season with his goals. That gives us extra attacking variation and also allows us to play with two strikers when the situation demands it.”
