Union Saint-Gilloise move on Bentayeb after Feyenoord interest

🇧🇪 By 4All Football Editorial ·

In the bustling streets of Brussels, Union Saint-Gilloise officials gathered to discuss a potential signing that could reshape their attack. The club has announced interest in 24‑year‑old Moroccan striker Tawfik Bentayeb, a player who was recently linked with Feyenoord, and has already tabled a €3.5 million bid to his current club Union Touarga Sport.

Bentayeb remains under contract with Union Touarga Sport in Morocco, but spent last season on loan at Troyes in France, where he showcased his goal‑scoring prowess.

During his spell at Troyes in Ligue 2, the Moroccan forward featured in 28 competitive matches, netting 18 goals and providing three assists. In the Coupe de France he added two goals in three games, bringing his season tally to 20 and helping Troyes push for promotion to the top French tier.

Standard Liège is also reportedly in the mix, having submitted its own proposal. The club believes Bentayeb would enjoy more playing time there, giving them a potential edge in the race for his signature.

Anderlecht is monitoring the situation as well. Sporting director Antoine Sibierski, who previously worked at Troyes, is aware of Bentayeb’s abilities, but the Brussels giants must first off‑load players before any concrete offer can be made.

On the international stage, Bentayeb made his debut for the Moroccan national team on 26 May, scoring in a 5‑0 friendly victory over Burundi.

In June, rumours linked the striker to Feyenoord once again, but the Rotterdam side ultimately completed the signing of Nacho Ferri from KVC Westerlo instead, leaving Bentayeb’s future open to the Belgian suitors.
