Two‑year contract lands German keeper Niclas Thiede at ADO

🇳🇱 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Vandaag, ADO Den Haag announced the signing of German goalkeeper Niclas Thiede on a two‑year contract, the club confirmed. The 27‑year‑old arrives from VfL Bochum, adding depth to the newly promoted side's roster.

Thiede joins ADO after a brief spell at VfL Bochum, having recorded a single Bundesliga‑duel in 2019 while on the books of SC Freiburg. That appearance marks his only top‑flight experience to date.

ADO had been searching for a solid competitor to Kilian Nikiema, and technical director Mark Wotte believes Thiede fulfills that need. He noted that the keeper fits the playing style envisioned by head coach Robin Peter.

Mark Wotte said, “Niclas is a goalkeeper with the qualities we are looking for. He fits well with the playing style that Robin Peter has in mind for the team and also brings experience from German professional football.” The quote appeared on the club’s official website.

The addition bolsters a keeper group that trains daily under the guidance of Kawa Hisso and Nico Hildebrandt. Wotte stressed that healthy competition is vital for the development of both individual players and the squad.

Fans had waited long for reinforcements, but Thiede becomes the fourth signing in a few days, following defender Lasse Wilhelm, striker Donát Bárány and midfielder Jan Zamburek. The rapid activity signals an aggressive transfer strategy.

De club, a recent promotee, is clearly intent on strengthening its squad ahead of the upcoming season, with Thiede’s experience seen as a key asset for the campaign.
