Strasbourg's €50m demand puts Roma’s left‑back plans under pressure
Strasbourg have set a €50 million price tag for Belgian left‑back Diego Moreira, the 2004‑born French club signalling a firm stance on his future, a demand that far exceeds the amount Roma are prepared to meet in the upcoming transfer window.
Roma have identified Moreira as the priority signing to bolster their left side. The 2004‑born Belgian is a natural left‑back who can also operate as an attacking winger, offering both defensive stability and forward thrust. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has publicly praised the player, underscoring the Giallorossi’s high regard for his versatility.
Sky Sport reported that Roma are preparing an offer of around €30 million. The €20 million shortfall between the clubs’ valuations highlights the difficulty of closing the deal for the Roman side. Both clubs face a challenging negotiation as the wide gap tests their willingness to compromise.
Strasbourg’s €50 million demand reflects their ambition to maximise the return on a player they own. By setting a firm price, the French side aims to secure a substantial financial gain should the transfer materialise.
Roma’s €30 million proposal signals a readiness to invest in strengthening the squad. However, the disparity suggests the transfer could stall unless the clubs bridge the €20 million gap.
