Roma chase Argentine Garnacho to replace collapsed Greenwood deal

🇮🇹 By 4All Football Editorial ·
Sky Sport Roma the Giallorossi are moving to fill the void left by the collapsed Greenwood deal, turning their attention to Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 21‑year‑old is seen as the ideal addition to bolster Roma’s attack after the failed transfer. Roma have submitted their first official offer, a loan from Chelsea, the Blues. The loan fee is set at €5 million. It includes an option to buy for €35 million, which becomes mandatory if performance criteria are met. The Argentine is on the verge of leaving Chelsea after a stint in Manchester United’s youth ranks. His desire for a new challenge abroad has been confirmed by Spanish manager Xabi Alonso, who said Garnacho is not interested in remaining at the Blues. Coach Francesco Gasperini believes Garnacho’s Premier League experience will translate into Serie A impact for the Giallorossi. He described the winger as the perfect candidate to add pace and creativity to Roma’s forward line. If the performance triggers are satisfied, the loan clause will force a mandatory purchase, securing a versatile attacker for Roma. The criteria have been agreed between the two clubs. Both clubs stand to benefit from a swift resolution to the negotiations.
