Roma act fast to lock in Mancini and Cristante before rivals move

🇮🇹 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Roma have moved quickly to secure defender Gianluca Mancini and midfielder Bryan Cristante on new contracts before the summer transfer window, finalising agreements already reached while paperwork was being gathered in the Giallorossi offices as the deadline approached this season.

Agreements are already in place, but formal signatures and public announcements are still pending. The club chose to finalise the deals ahead of the summer transfer period to ensure the contracts are settled before the window opens.

The early completion is intended to pre‑empt interest from other clubs. Roma believes that acting swiftly reduces the risk of losing the pair to rivals and strengthens squad stability, and by moving before the window the Giallorossi aim to avoid a bidding war.

The negotiations were reported by Gianlucadimarzio.com, which highlighted the club’s proactive approach to contract renewals. The outlet’s coverage underscores the urgency and strategic planning behind the extensions, reflecting the club’s determination to act decisively.

Defender Gianluca Mancini will remain with the Giallorossi until 2029, extending his stay well beyond the original 2027 expiry. The new term pushes his contract further into the future, securing his services for the next two seasons, and Mancini, a defensive midfielder by trade, now has a longer runway at the club.

Midfielder Bryan Cristante will stay at the club until 2028, superseding his previous deal that ended in 2027. The extended contract gives the Italian international an additional year of security, and Cristante has already entered the top ten for Roma appearances with 364 matches, equal with Masetti.

Cristante’s new deal could see him reach Giuseppe Giannini’s sixth‑place tally of 435 appearances. Mancini currently sits 16th on the club’s all‑time appearance list with 319 games and remains within striking distance of the top ten. Should the club decide to extend these new agreements further, fresh negotiations will have to be reopened.

If the renewals are confirmed, Lorenzo Pellegrini may also hope to join the ranks of the club’s idols, though a gap still exists between the number‑seven spot and historic figures. The Giallorossi’s swift action therefore serves both immediate stability and long‑term legacy goals.
