De PSV contract slip leaves Anass Salah-Eddine to choose his future
Mike Verweij told the Kick-Off programme at 16:30 this morning that PSV made a clear error by failing to secure the contract certainty of winger‑defender Anass Salah-Eddine when the club attempted to trigger his purchase option. The procedural oversight left the club without a legal basis to retain the player.
Verweij emphasized the misstep, stating, “Dat was een foutje van PSV,” and highlighted the procedural nature of the error. He explained that PSV intended to activate the option, but could not because the underlying agreement had never been formalised.
Without a contract, PSV lost the legal basis to bind the player. Consequently, the contractual gap now gives Salah-Eddine the freedom to determine his own future.
Anass Salah-Eddine is a wing‑back who represented Marokko at the WK and has been on loan in Eindhoven. The contractual void means he can now decide where to play next.
Valentijn Driessen opened the discussion by noting that Saibari is currently the only player expected to remain, and he agreed that Salah-Eddine will not stay in Eindhoven. “Er werd gevreesd voor een hele leegloop bij PSV, maar dat is voorlopig erg rustig,” he said.
Since the purchase option lacked a supporting contract, Salah-Eddine could simply opt to return to AS Roma, Verweij said, adding that the player is effectively at the steering wheel of his own path.
The issue was raised in the latest broadcast, which also covered topics such as Frankrijk, Slot, Haaland and broader market movements. Those themes underline the volatility of transfer dealings across Europe.
