PSG winger wants Premier League switch despite club objections

🇫🇷

Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye is pushing for a move to the Premier League this summer, despite the wishes of both his club and his advisors. The 23-year-old, who has spent his entire career at his boyhood club, is no longer willing to accept a peripheral role and wants regular first-team football elsewhere. Mbaye’s desire for a more prominent position has created a tense situation at Parc des Princes, with his entourage reportedly advising against a departure.

According to FootMercato’s Sebastien Denis, Tottenham and Aston Villa are among the Premier League clubs monitoring the winger’s situation. Villa are described as the “hottest team in the race,” with their Champions League commitments driving interest in strengthening their squad. PSG retain significant leverage in these discussions, as they could block any transfer or persuade Mbaye to remain by offering him a more central role next season.

The winger’s stance reflects a growing frustration with limited minutes under his current circumstances. His push for a move comes as PSG prepare for a summer of squad overhaul, with reports suggesting the club may prioritise retaining key players while exploring new additions. Mbaye’s case highlights the delicate balance between individual ambitions and club objectives in modern football transfers.

While Mbaye seeks a Premier League exit, PSG are closing in on their own major deal. Midfielder Kang-in Lee has agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the move is imminent. The transfer, valued at around €40 million, would mark PSG’s first significant incoming deal of the transfer window.
