Premier League chase intensifies as Bellanova exits Atalanta's plans
Italy defender Raoul Bellanova, 26, finds himself out of Maurizio Sarri’s plans at Atalanta, while Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Fulham are already circling the right‑back, who cost Bergamo €24.3 million plus add‑ons when they signed him from Torino last summer.
Bellanova primarily operates on the right flank but is capable of moving to the left when required, offering tactical flexibility for any side that secures his services. His 26‑year‑old profile combines experience with the ability to adapt across the defensive line.
The defender is not believed to be part of Maurizio Sarri’s plans, meaning a summer departure from Bergamo appears likely. Sarri’s arrival has prompted a reshuffle that leaves Bellanova on the periphery of the squad.
Tottenham Hotspur, now managed by Roberto De Zerbi, have been linked with a bid for Bellanova, joining earlier interest from Nottingham Forest and Fulham. All three clubs have monitored his performances since his Atalanta spell.
Everton have stepped up the pressure, formally inquiring about Bellanova’s availability as the Premier League side seeks defensive reinforcement. Their interest adds a fourth English club to the growing list.
Atalanta acquired Bellanova from Torino for €24.3 million plus add‑ons in the summer of 2024, after the player featured for Milan, Cagliari and Inter earlier in his career. The fee underscores the Italian club’s initial belief in his potential.
During the 2023‑24 campaign, Bellanova made 36 competitive appearances for Atalanta, contributing two assists despite recurring muscular injuries. His involvement was a key factor in the team’s defensive rotations.
Internationally, Bellanova has earned six senior caps for Italy since debuting in March 2024, highlighting his rising profile on the world stage. Given the breadth of Premier League interest, a move to England appears the most probable outcome for Bellanova’s next career chapter.
