Napoli’s keeper search and Inter’s defensive stall drive summer moves
With the transfer window opened three days ago and Massimiliano Allegri now in charge, Napoli face a looming vacancy in goal after Vanja Milinković‑Savić is expected to depart, forcing the club to find a partner for Alex Meret before the new season begins.
The Italian side have identified Guglielmo Vicario as their preferred option, while also monitoring Guillaume Restes of Toulouse and Matěj Kovář, currently on PSV’s books, as possible replacements. All three candidates fit Allegri’s demand for a goalkeeper who can complement Meret’s style.
Juventus remain firm on a wage package of around €6 million per season for Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović, despite the player’s request for €8 million plus a signing bonus. Beşiktaş have entered the race with a proposal worth roughly €10 million per season, bonuses included, aiming to make Vlahović their marquee signing.
The Turin club indicated they would only reopen negotiations if Vlahović and his representatives lower their financial demands, which they deem excessive. Thus far, no reduction has been offered, leaving the Serbian forward on the market.
Inter have intensified talks for English centre‑back Trevoh Chalobah to outpace interest from Como and persuade Chelsea to release him. However, the pursuit of French defender Oumar Solet has collapsed, as Inter halted contacts with Udinese after more than twenty days, with the defender’s €25 million price tag proving prohibitive.
After securing Gonçalo Ramos, AC Milan need to reduce their squad size to fund further acquisitions. Striker Santiago Gimenez, currently with Mexico at the World Cup, is slated to leave only if a buyer meets the club’s €21 million valuation, avoiding a capital loss.
Roma have prioritized extending captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, with sporting director Tony D’Amico confirming a meeting with the midfielder’s camp. Pellegrini is prepared to cut his salary from roughly €6 million to about €3 million per season to align with the club’s cost‑cutting policy, while rejecting a move to Turkey despite Beşiktaş interest.
