Milan target Man United’s Mazraoui to add defensive versatility

🇮🇹 By 4All Football Editorial ·
With two years remaining on his Manchester United contract, AC Milan have identified Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui as a prime transfer target, Italian journalist Daniele Longo reports. The Serie A club have reportedly opened initial talks to secure the versatile defender, whose ability to play across the back line is highly valued. Italian reports say AC Milan view Mazraoui as an ideal addition because of his experience and his capacity to operate in multiple defensive roles. He can play at right‑back, left‑back, wing‑back and even centre‑back, giving the club tactical flexibility. The reports, sourced from Italy, indicate the club view him as a perfect fit. Mazraoui arrived at Manchester United from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024. Since joining, he has made 77 appearances for the English side and recorded three assists. Despite his importance, Manchester United have publicly stated they are not looking to cash in on Mazraoui this summer. Nevertheless, AC Milan have placed the Moroccan as their first‑choice target, although no formal proposal has been submitted. New Milan manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly driving the pursuit, hoping to reunite with Mazraoui at the San Siro. Amorim previously worked with the defender during a brief spell at United, which could ease the transition. Milan are also monitoring the future of left‑back Pervis Estupinan, who has been linked with a Premier League return via Aston Villa. Securing Mazraoui would provide cover across the full‑back positions and mitigate a potential shortage. Mazraoui has two years remaining on his Manchester United contract, and the club have publicly stated they are not looking to part ways. A formal offer from AC Milan could, however, influence United’s stance. If the move materialises, Milan would add a versatile defender capable of shoring up multiple roles, while United would retain a valuable squad member for the coming seasons. Both clubs would thus address their respective tactical priorities without a major financial outlay.
