Liverpool’s summer pivot: three unproven talents with superstar potential

🇬🇧 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Liverpool are positioned to sign three unproven forwards this summer, each with the potential to become world-class talents. The Reds entered the transfer window with the ambition of signing Yan Diomande, but the Ivorian winger rejected their advances in favour of Paris Saint-Germain. That rejection has left Liverpool without the attacking reinforcement they sought.

The club’s need for a new forward has grown more urgent following Mohamed Salah’s departure and Hugo Ekitiké’s injury. Liverpool’s attack struggled for goals last season, and the loss of their leading scorers has left a clear void. The Reds are now turning their attention to alternatives, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh, Köln’s Said El Mala, and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo emerging as primary targets.

Minteh, aged 21, is the most experienced of the trio, having already made an impact in the Premier League. Over the past two seasons, he has contributed 10 goals and nine assists, proving his ability to perform at the highest level. His versatility, particularly his ability to play from the right wing, aligns with Liverpool’s tactical needs.

El Mala, still only 19, delivered a standout Bundesliga campaign last season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists. His performances have drawn comparisons to some of Europe’s brightest young talents, and his potential is undeniable. Fernandez-Pardo, meanwhile, impressed in Ligue 1, netting eight goals and setting up five more. His inclusion in Belgium’s World Cup squad further underscores his rising status.

Liverpool’s pursuit of these players reflects a calculated risk. The club is not seeking an immediate superstar but rather a talent with the capacity to develop into one. Ekitiké’s return will ease some of the pressure, but minutes may be limited once the full forward group is available. The Reds are banking on finding a hidden gem among these options.

The shortlist also highlights Liverpool’s broader strategy this summer. With Salah’s exit and Ekitiké’s injury, the club has been forced to rethink its attacking options. The trio of Minteh, El Mala, and Fernandez-Pardo represent a blend of experience and untapped potential, offering a pathway to long-term success.

For Liverpool, the challenge now is to secure one of these players before their rivals do. The competition for young talent is fierce, and the Reds will need to move quickly to avoid missing out on their preferred targets.
