Late drama decides Lisburn Rangers win as Glens and Blues split points
Grace Murray’s 90th‑minute strike clinched a dramatic win for Lisburn Rangers, sealing a 4‑3 victory over Cliftonville at Solitude. The late goal turned a hard‑fought contest into three points, confirming the Reds’ edge in the Premiership and underscored the side’s resilience after a seesaw battle.
The match began under sunny north Belfast skies, with Caoimhe Gleston finding the net after just five minutes to give the Reds an early lead. Hannah Doherty responded quickly, equalising for Cliftonville and setting the tone for an open encounter.
Cliftonville restored their advantage in the 27th minute, only for Doherty to strike again and level the score before halftime. Caitlin McGuinness then fired the Reds ahead, adding another twist to the high‑scoring affair.
In the parallel Premiership clash, Megan Bell gave the Blues an early lead at Midgley Park, and Sophie McKnight doubled the advantage from close range. Demi Vance pulled one back before the break, leaving the sides level at halftime.
The second half saw an own goal from stopper Maddy Harvey Clifford, restoring parity at the 58th minute, before Grace Murray grabbed the decisive late goal for Lisburn Rangers. Linfield, who remain top of the table, later benefited from a free‑kick that Mia Moore turned into a lovely finish on 65 minutes.
Glens manager Kim Turner criticised the scheduling of fixtures as poor and unfair for her side, while Glentoran now endure a winless run in their last three games. Lisburn Rangers’ victory handed Cliftonville their first league defeat of the campaign, coming less than a week after the latter’s fourth consecutive Women's League Cup win.
