Koeman's resignation and the Dutch squad's Kansas City return

🇳🇱
The Dutch national team touched down at its Kansas City basecamp on 1 July, just a day after departing head coach Ronald Koeman announced his resignation following the World Cup elimination. The squad had flown back from Mexico and will soon depart the United States for the Netherlands. On Tuesday 30 June, Koeman posted a statement on Instagram confirming he would step down as the Netherlands' head coach. His announcement came after the team's disappointing exit from the tournament. The following day, the Oranje arrived at the Kansas City basecamp in two buses, as shown on footage. Koeman was the first to leave his bus, departing before the rest of the squad. The Netherlands had been eliminated after a 1‑1 draw with Morocco that went to penalties. The match remained level after 120 minutes before Morocco prevailed in the shoot‑out. Oranje is scheduled to fly out of Kansas City on Wednesday 1 July at approximately 09:00 local time. The team is expected to land at Schiphol Airport on Thursday 2 July around 01:30 Dutch time. Not all internationals will be on the flight; several players will continue onward to other destinations. The remainder of the squad will follow the coach's departure from the basecamp. The contrast between a coach's departure and the team's logistical return highlights a moment of uncertainty for Dutch football. Ahead, the squad will regroup in the Netherlands to assess the World Cup fallout.
