Inter’s €3m Provedel signing aims to seal Nerazzurri’s title push

🇮🇹 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Inter have paid €3 million to Lazio for goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, a 32‑year‑old lifelong Inter fan who cleared his medical today and signed a contract running to June 2029, officially plugging the void left by Yann Sommer’s departure as the Nerazzurri’s first summer signing.

The transfer is the first summer signing for the Nerazzurri and signals a clear intent to compete for the Serie A title. It also underscores Inter’s willingness to invest in a proven last‑line option.

Provedel underwent his medical examinations today and received clearance despite a serious shoulder injury suffered in March that required surgery. The club acknowledges he may not be fit before the end of August, meaning his debut could be delayed.

At San Siro he will contest the starting spot with Josep Martinez following the departure of Yann Sommer. Both keepers are expected to share duties throughout the campaign.

Provedel rose through the Udinese and Chievo youth systems before playing for Perugia, Pisa, Modena, Juve Stabia, Pro Vercelli and Empoli, eventually establishing himself at Spezia. His performances there earned a €2.55 million move to Lazio in the summer of 2022.

He has been regularly called up to the senior Italy squad but has yet to earn his first cap. The call‑ups reflect his growing reputation despite limited international experience.

Inter’s long‑term contract reflects confidence in Provedel’s abilities once he returns to full fitness. For the goalkeeper, the move offers a chance to fight for the Serie A title with the Nerazzurri.
