Heerenveen nets fee for Nordin Bakker as Midtjylland strengthens squad

🇳🇱
SC Heerenveen have reached an agreement to transfer 28‑year‑old goalkeeper Nordin Bakker to Danish champions FC Midtjylland, securing a “nice amount” fee after initially signing him on a free transfer from Almere City. The deal was confirmed by technical manager Johan Hansma on Tuesday, as Bakker prepared to travel to Denmark to finalise the move. Nordin Bakker, 28, left Almere City for SC Heerenveen on a free transfer a year ago. He arrived in the Frisian club after his contract with Almere City expired. During his sole Eredivisie appearance, Bakker came on at home against Feyenoord, a match that ended 2‑2. He replaced the unavailable Bernt Klaverboer for the final minutes. Technical manager Johan Hansma told Omroep Friesland, “The clubs are in agreement. We could pick up Nordin last year for free, but we didn’t want to let him go for free. So we got a nice amount for him.” FC Midtjylland, the 2024 Danish champions, finished second in the Danish Superliga last season. The club confirmed Bakker’s transfer on Tuesday, with the goalkeeper traveling to Denmark to finalise the deal. Earlier this week Midtjylland secured right‑back Rasmus Kristensen from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Danish side is also linked with Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg, indicating a broader recruitment drive. The departure of Bakker creates a vacancy for SC Heerenveen, where technical manager Johan Hansma also faces the potential exit of goalkeeper Andries Noppert. Noppert remains under contract, but the club is prepared to allow a free transfer.
