Genoa near Stroud deal

Genoa are reportedly close to signing Sweden's World Cup winger Elliot Stroud from Mjallby. The Grifone are active on the transfer market, rebuilding their squad under coach Daniele De Rossi. They have already signed Franz-Ethan Meichtry, Samuel Wiafe, and David Puczka after selling Jeff Ekhator to Juventus.

Elliot Stroud has been at Mjallby since January 2023 with a contract that only runs to December 31 this year. He made four appearances for Sweden at the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Genoa are also targeting Morocco striker Tawfik Bentayeb of Union Touarga. Bentayeb returned to Union Touarga after a strong loan experience for Troyes where he scored 20 goals in 31 games.

The 24-year-old Morocco international is a centre-forward who can also play on the right of an attack, he has one senior cap.

Genoa's transfer activity comes after coach Daniele De Rossi committed to a full season, having taken over midway from Patrick Vieira.
