From London to Glasgow: Ruby Seaby joins swpl’s Glasgow City

🇬🇧 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Glasgow City have secured the signing of 19-year-old winger Ruby Seaby on a three-year deal. The move fills a clear need for attacking options at Petershill Park after a period of transition in the squad.

Seaby arrives from Ipswich Town, where she spent part of the 2025/26 season on loan at Lewes. The 19-year-old brings youth and directness to a Glasgow City attack that has looked to refresh its personnel in recent months.

Her international pedigree is already established, with caps earned at every youth level from Under-14 up to Under-17 for England. That pathway through the age groups highlights her early development as a consistent performer.

Seaby’s development continued at Arsenal’s academy, where she scored nine goals and provided eight assists for the Gunners’ Under-21 side. Those numbers underline her attacking influence during her time in north London.

Speaking after finalising her move, Seaby said: “I’m very excited to get started, buzzing to be here. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the league and I think it’s going to push me physically and technically, so I’m excited to test myself.”

Glasgow City head coach Leanne Ross echoed the optimism: “Ruby is an exciting young player and I’m really excited to bring her exuberance to the squad. She has pace, is direct with the ball and is also hungry to assist and score goals, bringing the exact qualities that we look for in an attacking player.”

The signing follows Glasgow City’s recent restructuring under Ross, who has prioritised youth and technical quality in her recruitment strategy. Seaby fits that profile as a player with clear potential and a proven record at youth level.

With the SWPL season approaching, the club will now look to integrate Seaby quickly into matchday squads and build chemistry with her new teammates. Her arrival adds depth to an attacking unit that has seen several departures in recent transfer windows.
