Deportivo La Coruña chase Aubameyang to fill scoring void

🇪🇸 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Deportivo La Coruña need a proven goal‑scoring striker after securing promotion to Spain’s top flight, and they have set their sights on former Arsenal forward Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang to fill the void. The Gabon international, who also starred for Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, is available for a reported €1.5 million fee, offering the Spanish side experience at the highest level.

Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang is set to leave Marseille and join the newly‑promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña for a reported €1.5 million, international’s departure from the French club.

Aubameyang will not travel with Marseille on their pre‑season tour, having left the club’s training ground on Thursday afternoon. His exit was confirmed by Get French Football News, which cited the Foot Mercato report.

Deportivo La Coruña have targeted Aubameyang to add proven goal‑scoring pedigree to a Spanish side that just earned promotion to Spain’s top flight. The Gabon international previously starred for Arsenal, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, bringing experience at the highest level.

Olympique de Marseille manager Gauthier Génésio explained at his press conference that the club’s financial reality forced the sale. “When you have good players you want to keep them, but afterwards there is also the contextual reality… we would need to sell players,” he said.

The move allows Marseille to reduce their wage bill and pursue a balanced squad under Génésio’s plan, while Deportivo secure a striker capable of competing in La Liga. Both clubs view the deal as aligning with their respective strategic objectives for the upcoming season.
