Club Brugge faces Ajax challenge for Genk talent in summer

🇧🇪 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Inside Club Brugge’s training complex, the future of 21‑year‑old winger Noah Adedeji‑Sternberg hangs in the balance as the Belgian side battles Ajax Amsterdam for his signature while Genk holds out for a €10 million price tag. The player, under contract until June 2028, is also linked to other suitors.

Noah Adedeji‑Sternberg could escape Club Brugge as negotiations with Genk fail to progress. Les Limbourgeois have not appreciated Brugge’s direct talks with the player before a club‑to‑club agreement could be reached, further slowing the process.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Ajax Amsterdam is monitoring the situation closely and is ready to intervene in the negotiations. The Dutch club sees an opportunity to acquire the talented winger amid the Belgian deadlock.

Genk has set a €10 million asking price for the 21‑year‑old, a figure that other interested clubs must meet. Plettenberg notes that several additional suitors are watching the case, increasing competition for the transfer.

The winger’s contract runs until June 2028, yet Transfermarkt values him at €4 million on the market. This discrepancy highlights the gap between Genk’s demand and the player’s estimated worth.

Adedeji‑Sternberg was partly trained at Borussia Mönchengladbach before joining Genk in 2023. He has earned six caps for Belgium’s U21 side, scoring once during his international outings.

Last season he featured in 37 matches across all competitions, recording one goal and three assists. Genk has invited him to train individually while his transfer situation remains unresolved.

The coming weeks will determine whether Club Brugge can revive dialogue with Genk or if Ajax or another contender will close the deal, shaping the final chapter of a summer transfer saga that could reshape the Belgian winger’s career.
