Chelsea intensify chase for Bologna winger Rowe as rivals watch

🇬🇧 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Chelsea have opened talks with the representatives of Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe, the England Under‑21 international, as the London club seeks to add attacking width this summer, a development reported by Il Resto del Carlino via TuttoMercatoWeb in recent weeks.

Rowe, 23, finished the previous season strongly, scoring and creating goals across Serie A, Bologna’s European campaign and domestic cup fixtures. The Blues view his ability to operate on the left flank as a direct answer to the need for greater width in their attacking setup.

Bologna have indicated a preference to retain the Englishman and have not listed him for sale, although a significant offer could force a decision. Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for the winger, adding to the competition for his signature. Chelsea are not the only Premier League side monitoring the market, with West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville and Portuguese forward Francisco Trincão also named among the Blues’ shortlist.

The pursuit follows a pattern of the club selling young talent such as Riccardo Calafiori and Dan Ndoye to Premier League rivals in recent seasons. Chelsea’s willingness to explore new options reflects their broader strategy of refreshing the squad ahead of the new campaign.

Should a deal materialise, Rowe would add depth to Chelsea’s wing options while providing Bologna with a potential windfall from a sizable transfer fee. Conversely, if Bologna hold firm, the Blues may need to turn their attention to alternative targets like Summerville or Trincão.

A photograph taken in Bergamo, Italy on May 17 captured Rowe in action for Bologna FC during the Serie A clash with Atalanta BC at the Gewiss Stadium, credited to Giuseppe Cottini/Getty Images. The image, listed under Cottini, highlights the winger’s pace on the left side of the pitch.

The interest from the Blues underscores how ITALY’s Serie A continues to produce talent coveted by Premier League clubs. Reports suggest the negotiations could intensify in MAY as the transfer window approaches.
