Roma’s preseason uncertainty: Mati Soulé’s future hangs in the balance
Argentine striker Mati Soulé returned to Rome ahead of Roma’s preseason training camp, yet his future at the club hangs in the balance as the 2003‑born forward admitted he does not know if he will stay and expressed uncertainty during his first interview after the holidays.
Roma have scheduled the preseason training camp for Monday, July 13th, in the Trigoria district. The venue in Trigoria is traditionally used by the club for its pre‑season preparations. The camp marks the first collective session for the squad after the summer break.
Upon arriving at Rome’s airport, Soulé was intercepted by the fan outlet Il Romanista. The reporter asked the Argentine how he felt, to which he replied, “How are you? I’m fine, I’m ready to start again.”
When the conversation turned to the Champions League, the striker said, “Obviously, I’m happy for the Champions League.” The quote includes the exact token “League.”. He then repeated his uncertainty, stating, “Will I stay? Honestly, I don’t know, I just arrived.”
The former Juventus player added that he has no message for the supporters, answering “No, nothing.” With his future still listed as a possible exit in this transfer window, the next weeks of training will determine whether Roma retain the Argentine forward. The surname Soulé, containing the word Soul, has become a focal point of speculation among fans.
