Bournemouth's €30 million gamble on Alvaro Rodriguez as Real cash in

🇪🇸 By 4All Football Editorial ·
Real Madrid have secured a €30 million deal as former academy striker Alvaro Rodriguez officially joins Bournemouth, with the English club paying €25 million upfront and €5 million in variables, while the Spanish giants retain a 50 percent future‑sell‑on clause. The transfer was confirmed on Wednesday after medical tests were cleared. Both clubs announced that Bournemouth will pay €25 million fixed and another €5 million in variables for the Spanish striker. Real retained the right to receive 50 percent of any future transfer fee, having sold Rodriguez to Elche for €2 million last year. The agreement for Rodriguez’s transfer from Elche to the Premier League side Bournemouth had been reached some days ago, but medical tests delayed the finalisation. Diario AS reported that the remaining issues have now been resolved and the move was announced on Wednesday. Although not excessive by their standards, Real Madrid have still spent a considerable sum on new signings this summer. The Spanish defender Marc Cucurella has been the main asset on whom they have spent €55 million, with an additional €5 million in variables, while another €20 million has been paid for Denzel Dumfries. The Merengues have almost recouped this amount with sales of some of the academy‑trained players. Most of the income has come from the sale of Nico Paz to Como, and other players such as Victor Munoz have also brought a significant sum to Los Blancos’ coffers. The deal will leave around €12.5 million for Real Madrid, a figure that can rise further if the player meets the additional €5 million in variables. Hopefully, Alvaro Rodriguez will continue to shine in England and showcase the quality emerging from the Real Madrid academy, after a very good year with the La Liga side.
