Belgian celebrations erupt after Rode Duivels' dramatic comeback

🇧🇪

Belgium's national team, the Rode Duivels, overturned a 0‑2 deficit to defeat Senegal on Saturday evening, delivering a dramatic comeback win that sparked celebrations across the country. The victory prompted jubilant scenes from fans, celebrities and festival‑goers in towns and venues nationwide.

Presenter Erik Van Looy watched the match at Bar Krul in Borgerhout. When the winning goal was scored, he erupted with joy, then had to sit down to catch his breath.

Former international Dries Mertens followed the game with a pint in hand. After the win, his wife Kat Kerkhofs greeted him with a big kiss in the café.

Radio host Vincent Fierens celebrated the triumph alongside friends. Zita Wauters, daughter of Koen Wauters, and actor Wannes Lacroix also shared their enthusiasm after the comeback.

Content creator Average Rob streamed the match on a giant screen at the Rock Werchter festival. Thousands of festival‑goers cheered the Belgian goal, and the event’s atmosphere exploded in celebration.

Every Belgian goal triggered eruptions of joy, with beer flying and supporters embracing. The crowd repeatedly sang the iconic supporters’ chant ‘Tous ensemble, tous ensemble, ouais ouais!’ after the final whistle.

Similar celebrations unfolded in many other Belgian towns, where fans gathered to watch and rejoice together.

International media described the comeback as ‘Waanzin’, ‘onvergetelijk’ and even ‘een puinhoop’. Youri Tielemans, a favourite of coach Rudi Garcia, was highlighted for his role in the turnaround.
