Bayern Munich’s defensive surplus stalls Jules Kounde pursuit

🇩🇪 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Bayern Munich have again placed Barcelona defender Jules Kounde on their transfer shortlist, highlighting the French centre‑back’s sustained appeal across Europe, yet the German champions are not expected to finalise a move to the Allianz Arena before the summer window shuts.

Journalist Christian Falk says Bayern remain convinced of Kounde’s quality and continue to monitor his situation at Barcelona. The German club has followed the French international for several seasons.

Bayern’s interest has not turned into concrete negotiations because Vincent Kompany’s Barcelona squad is already overloaded in defence. Consequently, the German champions are focusing on trimming their Bundesliga roster rather than adding another high‑profile defender.

Bayern’s defensive surplus means an immediate move to the Allianz Arena is unlikely. The club would need to reduce the number of players competing for places at the back before revisiting Kounde later in the window.

Kounde is under contract with Barcelona until 2030 and has expressed contentment staying in Catalonia. He is comfortable at the Spotify Camp Nou and shows no sign of seeking a fresh challenge, reinforcing his commitment to the Catalan side.

Despite Barcelona’s lack of urgency, they would listen to an offer around €65 million, though this does not indicate a willingness to sell. The Catalan club’s approach remains pragmatic, preferring to keep the French defender while remaining open to realistic bids.
