Barcelona reward Adeyemi’s commitment as €22m deal closes
Barcelona have praised Germany international Karim Adeyemi for the personal gesture that smoothed the final stages of his move to the Catalan club. The winger is expected to arrive in Barcelona today to complete the remaining formalities before being officially unveiled as the new signing.
Beyond the agreement reached with Borussia Dortmund, the transfer fee is set at €22 million in fixed payments with a further €7 million linked to performance‑related bonuses. The structure ends weeks of negotiations between the two clubs.
Adeyemi made Barcelona his clear priority, pausing discussions over a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund despite his deal running until 2027. He also declined interest from other clubs, focusing entirely on securing a move to the Spotify Camp Nou.
Club officials understood his desire as an important factor, believing his actions created a smoother dialogue with Borussia Dortmund and accelerated progress toward a final agreement.
While Barcelona’s sporting department worked to finalise the financial details, German coach Hansi Flick remained closely involved throughout the process. Flick, who gave Adeyemi his senior international debut with Germany, is convinced the winger possesses qualities that suit Barcelona’s style of play.
Flick pushed for the deal to move forward, believing he can help Adeyemi reach another level after an inconsistent spell in Germany. From a tactical perspective, the Barcelona manager views the new arrival primarily as a natural winger, although his versatility allows him to be used anywhere across the front line.

The next step is Adeyemi’s arrival today to sign the contract and complete formalities, after which Barcelona will unveil him as the latest addition to the Blaugrana squad.
