Arsenal eye Aston Villa Morgan Rogers as Arteta’s next spark

🇬🇧 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Arsenal are expected to launch a move for Aston Villa Morgan Rogers, a 23‑year‑old attacking midfielder, as Mikel Arteta seeks to refresh the Gunners’ attack ahead of the upcoming off‑season. The club views the Villa star as a vital addition to address creative gaps.

Rogers can dribble, shoot from distance and create chances, qualities that would enhance Arteta’s attacking options. He is comfortable operating as an attacking midfielder or on either wing, giving the Gunners tactical flexibility.

Journalist Ben Jacobs noted that Bradley Barcola, Eli Junior Kroupi and others are also on Arsenal’s list, but the club is expected to bid for Morgan Rogers. Jacobs highlighted the interest in Barcola and Kroupi alongside the primary target.

The reported asking price for Rogers may sit around £80 million with add‑ons, and Arsenal could aim to keep the deal under £100 million. Jacobs compared the figure to Elliot Anderson’s fee when he moved to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest, suggesting a similar valuation.

Rogers featured in 55 matches for Aston Villa across competitions last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists. Those numbers place him among the Premier League’s most productive playmakers.

His contract at Villa Park runs until 2031, meaning Arsenal would need to present a convincing offer to persuade him to join. The length of the deal adds a further negotiating element for the Gunners.

Villa have already brought in some money and more than one club is interested, so Arsenal must be ready to compete in a market described as “crazy inflated”. The competition could affect the final price Arsenal are willing to meet.

Arsenal still retain an interest in Bruno Guimaraes, while Newcastle await formal contact regarding that player. This indicates the Gunners are juggling multiple targets alongside Rogers.

If negotiations progress, Arsenal are expected to start formal talks with Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers this summer. The outcome will depend on whether Villa stick to their asking price and how the clubs navigate the inflated market.
