Ajax eyes Dovbyk as Roma demands mandatory purchase clause

🇳🇱 By 4All Football Editorial ·
Gerucht: Vandaag Ajax have signalled they will submit an improved loan proposal to AS Roma for striker Artem Dovbyk, the Italiaanse Calciomercato reports. The move comes as the Dutch club seeks to bolster its attack after a strong season by the 28‑year‑old in Spain. Last month it became clear that Ajax had set its sights on Dovbyk. The 28‑year‑old striker previously played for Girona, where he was coached by Míchel, now the new manager of the Amsterdammers. Under the Spaanse coach, Dovbyk enjoyed his best campaign, netting 24 goals in a single season and playing a crucial role in securing a historic third‑place finish in La Liga. Calciomercato Ajax are now pursuing a loan move for Dovbyk from AS Roma, aiming to present an improved offer to the Italian side. De Italiaanse topclub has made a clear demand: any deal must include a mandatory purchase option for the striker. It remains uncertain whether the Amsterdammers can satisfy Roma’s condition. Earlier rumours suggested Roma hoped for €23 million, while Dovbyk’s contract runs until mid‑2029 and Transfermarkt values him at €15 million. If Ajax can meet the clause, the loan could strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming season; failure may force them to look elsewhere.
