ADO eyes Hungarian striker as first summer signing amid medical doubts

🇳🇱 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Donát Bárány’s contract with Debrecen runs until mid‑2029, a key figure as ADO Den Haag target the Hungarian (Hongaarse) striker as their first summer reinforcement. A medical examination is scheduled for Tuesday, after the 25‑year‑old suffered an ankle injury and surgery earlier this year.

According to the Algemeen Dagblad, discussions are under way with the forward Donát Bárány. The club’s officials said the deal could be finalized before the medical, signalling a swift move.

Bárány, a neo‑international of Hungary (Hongarije), has recorded 60 goals and 25 assists in 152 official matches for Debrecen. His performances have attracted attention across Europe, though ADO remains his first prospective Dutch destination this window.

AD reported that the upcoming medical may not be a formality, noting his ankle surgery in April and lack of match action since, and that Bárany’s recovery remains uncertain. The striker has not featured in competitive play since the operation, raising questions about his fitness.

Bárány earned his first cap for the Hungarian national team in March, appearing in a friendly against Slovenia (Slovenië). He was selected for the match despite his recent injury layoff, highlighting his potential value.

The Aanvoerder, Jari Vlak, was recently transferred to Castellón, leaving the squad without new signings this summer. His departure underscores the club’s urgency to secure a replacement before the season starts.

With the transfer window nearing its close, ADO’s pursuit of the Hungarian forward illustrates the club’s intent to strengthen its attack. Securing Bárány would mark the first incoming deal for the Dutch side, potentially setting the tone for further activity.
