Sevilla’s chase for Bajcetic heats up amid Liverpool reshuffle
Liverpool’s midfield reshuffle is gathering pace with Stefan Bajcetic set to leave Anfield this summer. The 21‑year‑old’s exit is now considered inevitable unless a new contract is agreed before the transfer window closes.
Sevilla FC are now leading the chase for Bajcetic, according to reports. “According to journalist Ángel García, the departures of Nemanja Gudelj and, especially, Batista Mendy have prompted Sevilla FC to make a strong push in the international bidding to acquire the services of Stefan Bajcetic,” the report reads.
“[His] agency is already negotiating a definitive departure from Anfield this summer with priority destination being Spain.” Other Spanish clubs Rayo Vallecano and Elche CF are also monitoring the situation. The departures of Nemanja Gudelj and Batista Mendy have prompted Sevilla to make a strong push in the international bidding.
Bajcetic, who joined from Celta Vigo in 2020, has not featured for Liverpool’s first team since May 2024 after successive injury setbacks and loan spells at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas. His lack of game time has left the 21‑year‑old on the periphery of the Reds’ plans.
Under contract until 2027, Bajcetic’s future is now in the hands of sporting director Richard Hughes. The Spain under‑21 international’s agency is already negotiating his definitive departure from Anfield, with Spain as the priority destination.
For Liverpool, the departure frees up a squad slot and reduces wage commitments as the club reshapes its midfield. For Sevilla, securing a deep‑lying playmaker like Bajcetic would bolster a midfield weakened by the exits of Nemanja Gudelj and Batista Mendy, aligning with their ambitions at Nervión.
