Real Madrid's transfer dilemma: Mourinho's extra targets face hurdles

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·
Real Madrid appear set to fall short of new head coach Jose Mourinho’s transfer wishes, as the club has already secured four signings for the 2026‑27 campaign but Mourinho is still demanding at least one more centre‑back and a midfielder. Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva have all officially signed and will jet in soon to the Bernabeu. Their arrivals give Mourinho a refreshed core ahead of the 2026‑27 season. Mourinho has reportedly asked for at least two more signings: a centre‑back and a midfielder. Alessandro Bastoni and Nico Schlotterbeck are among the names linked with the defensive slot. Real Madrid publicly confirmed they have no interest in Enzo Fernandez, Mourinho’s preferred midfield target. Meanwhile Aurelien Tchouameni has agreed a new five‑year contract, making another midfield signing unlikely, as per MD. To secure a new midfielder the club would need to sell a current player. Tchouameni was a candidate with interest from Manchester United, but that option has now vanished. The only realistic alternative is Eduardo Camavinga, yet the French midfielder has told the hierarchy he will not consider any offers, even if the club accepts them. Mourinho does not count on Camavinga for the 2026‑27 campaign, meaning he may have to settle with the squad already assembled. The coach will likely rely on existing options as the season approaches.
