Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town challenge Villa for €20m Restes

🇬🇧

Ipswich Town have entered the race to sign Toulouse FC goalkeeper Guillaume Restes, the 21‑year‑old Frenchman valued at a minimum of €20 million, according to a report from L’Équipe. Restes, a highly‑rated keeper who has featured for France’s U21 side, is also a serious target for Aston Villa and Serie A giants Napoli.

Ipswich Town, fresh from promotion back to the Premier League last season, are looking to add a top‑level goalkeeper to consolidate their top‑flight status. A keeper of Restes’ calibre would provide the experience and potential the newly promoted side needs.

Aston Villa consider Restes a serious target as they seek to strengthen competition for the No 1 shirt. The Frenchman’s youth and international experience align with Villa’s long‑term planning.

Serie A giants Napoli are also in discussions to sign the French goalkeeper, adding further competition for his signature. Napoli’s interest underscores Restes’ growing reputation across Europe.

Toulouse FC have set a minimum valuation of €20 million for Restes and are open to a sale, but they have yet to receive a concrete offer. The club must generate outgoings this summer to balance its books.

Charlie Cresswell, another Toulouse prospect, is linked with moves to Crystal Palace and Stade Rennais, indicating the French side’s broader transfer plans. His potential departure would free up squad space and contribute to the required outgoings.

Restes, who has not yet earned a senior cap for France, remains a highly‑rated prospect after his U21 appearances. His performances at U21 level have attracted attention from clubs in England and Italy.

A move would see Restes leave his boyhood club for a higher‑profile league, while the interested clubs could secure a promising goalkeeper and Toulouse could secure a significant fee to aid its financial balance. The developments were reported by Luke Entwistle.
