Official: Celtic sends Japanese playmaker Shin Yamada on loan to OHL

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Under the floodlights of Den Dreef, the OHL crowd heard the club’s announcement that on Wednesday the Belgian side had secured a new signing. The player is 26‑year‑old Japanese playmaker Shin Yamada, arriving on loan from the Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow.

OHL is clearly intent on strengthening its squad this summer, aiming to take a further step in its development. In line with that ambition, the club concluded an agreement with Shin Yamada, sending him to the King Power @ Den Dreef stadium on a season‑long loan.

Yamada began his professional career at Kawasaki Frontale in Japan’s J1 League. During his time there he recorded 32 goals and 9 assists across 122 matches and helped the club win the league title, the national cup and the Super Cup.

His performances earned him a move to Celtic FC, a leading club in Scotland. At Celtic he featured in eleven matches but did not find the back of the net.

During the winter window the Japanese attacker was loaned to Preussen Münster in Germany, where he rediscovered his scoring touch with three goals in ten appearances.

"Yamada is a player with good movement, chooses his positions well and scores easily. He possesses exactly the profile we were looking for," said sporting director Gyorgy Csepregi, expressing satisfaction with the acquisition.

The player himself welcomed the move, stating, "I am happy and delighted to be here. This club suits me well and I look forward to starting. I felt a very good feeling about their project and style of play."

Shin Yamada is OHL’s second summer signing after goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel from Club Brugge. NOUVEAU Reçois des notifications pour chaque news importante ! Inscris‑toi ICI !
