Maurice Steijn doubts Peter Bosz will become Dutch coach

🇳🇱

In the bustling Oranje Café, 52‑year‑old Maurice Steijn warned that Peter Bosz, who extended his PSV contract two months ago and is tied until mid‑2028, is unlikely to take over as the Netherlands national team coach after Ronald Koeman announced his departure this week.

After the first training duel, Bosz told the camera of VoetbalPrimeur, "It's nice that my name is mentioned. In football you never know." He made the comment on Saturday following the session.

Bosz still holds a contract with PSV that runs until mid‑2028, and his name has been repeatedly mentioned as a possible successor to Koeman.

Steijn said it "looks like he leaves the door slightly open," but added he cannot picture Bosz becoming the national coach because Bosz renewed his contract two months ago, is "super successful," and PSV would unlikely permit a departure.

When asked why he does not close the door definitively, Steijn suggested Bosz might be doing it deliberately and concluded, "I think he's a nice guy."

Other names floated as potential replacements for Koeman include Arne Slot, Pep Guardiola, Erik ten Hag and Michael Reiziger.
