Manchester United agree £38m deal for Atalanta's Ederson
Manchester United have finalised a £38m agreement with Atalanta for midfielder Ederson. The 26-year-old Brazilian joins on a five-year contract.
Ederson completed 3,200 minutes across Serie A and European competitions last season. He scored seven goals and provided three assists in Serie A alone.
Manchester United will meet Atalanta’s valuation of £38m after negotiating a reduced fee. The club avoided a higher release clause by concluding talks before the deadline.
Midfield overhaul stalls: Manchester United face Ederson setback
Ederson’s arrival addresses Manchester United’s midfield depth concerns. Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo remain central to Erik ten Hag’s plans. The signing follows Manchester United’s £80m deal for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise earlier this month. Olise and Ederson are expected to form a new partnership under Ten Hag’s system. Pre-season training begins next week. Ederson will undergo medicals before finalising his move.
