Liverpool’s urgent bid: Michael Edwards eyes midfield star

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Liverpool’s chief recruiter Michael Edwards has lodged a massive offer to sign an as‑yet unnamed incredible midfielder, signalling the Reds’ intent to bolster their midfield ahead of the new season. The proposal arrives as Liverpool scramble to recover from a turbulent summer, marked by a managerial shake‑up and key departures.

Arne Slot’s position became untenable, forcing a reset that left Liverpool desperate for a midfield solution after Yan Diomande chose Paris Saint‑Germain. The club’s priority on the centre of the park grew as the World Cup slowed activity across Europe, leaving the Reds with limited options.

With the World Cup still underway, transfer moves have stalled, and Liverpool have already seen several first‑team players leave Anfield. The futures of Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones remain uncertain, adding pressure to secure a replacement for Mohamed Salah’s creative influence.

Defensively, Liverpool have already added Jeremy Jacquet following Ibrahima Konate’s exit, while full‑backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are expected to depart. Richard Hughes now faces the task of addressing these gaps under Andoni Iraola’s leadership.

Youth recruitment has continued, with January signings Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Mor Talla Ndiaye, and the club securing England youth prospect Joshua Abe on a scholarship and pre‑professional contract. Further additions include Samuel Martinez, Dara Jikiemi and a target on Diego Pelembe.

According to Geo Team, a Liverpool delegation travelled to Estonia to watch 17‑year‑old Andria Bartishvili of Georgian side Iberia 1999 in a Champions League qualifier against FC Flora. Liverpool have made a contract offer to the wonderkid, a move mirrored by Arsenal, highlighting the club’s willingness to act swiftly.

If the midfielder joins, Liverpool will have addressed a critical area while offering the player a platform at Anfield under Victor Munoz’s behind‑the‑scenes recruitment strategy. For the Reds, the signing could stabilise a summer of upheaval; for the player, it presents a chance to develop at a historic club.
