Liverpool's sudden vacancy fuels fierce Mo Salah chase

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel that Liverpool have lost Mo Salah, the 34‑year‑old Egyptian King, after he reached an agreement to terminate his £400,000‑per‑week contract a year early, leaving the club with a sudden vacancy and sparking concrete interest from multiple suitors.

Liverpool now face a clear gap in their attacking line‑up, a void that the club must fill to maintain its offensive threat. The early departure of a player of Salah’s stature forces the management to reconsider its forward options. The vacancy also pressures the club’s transfer strategy as the season progresses.

The termination agreement was sealed after a fallout with the club’s top brass, including manager Arne Slot, which was noted as a factor in the early exit. The dispute with Slot contributed to the decision to end the £400,000‑per‑week deal a year ahead of schedule.

With the contract cancelled, Salah becomes a free agent and is free to choose his next destination. The two‑time African footballer of the year departs Liverpool as a club legend, adding weight to the pool of potential employers.

European interest has materialised, most prominently from Serie A clubs Roma and Juventus. Both Italian sides face severe difficulty in matching Salah’s salary demands, which remain anchored at £400,000 per week.

Turkish giants Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş have also been linked with the forward, while Saudi Arabia remains a strong contender. Al‑Ittihad made a £150 million play for the left‑footed forward back in 2023 and Al‑Ahli is mentioned as a possible suitor for a lucrative Saudi Pro League deal.

Concrete MLS interest has emerged, with Sporting Kansas City and San Diego FC named as potential destinations, the latter due to its Egyptian ownership. Romano told his audience, "For Mo Salah don’t underestimate MLS. No one spoke about Salah in the MLS till a few weeks ago…" He added that Salah now has two big options – Saudi Arabia and the United States – and a surprise move to MLS cannot be ruled out.

Salah will assess all options with his agent Ramy Abbas, weighing financial packages against other considerations. Romano noted that while Saudi clubs can offer a "big, big package," the final decision will likely hinge on factors beyond pure money.
