Kane admits he feels broken after England’s World Cup exit
Harry Kane said he feels “broken” for the boys, fans and staff after England’s World Cup exit, where the side surrendered a 1‑0 lead and fell 2‑1 to Argentina. The captain was visibly upset yesterday as the team lost the advantage.
Kane lamented that the English side surrendered a 1‑0 advantage against Argentina, eventually losing 2‑1. He said the loss hurts most for his teammates, the coaching staff and the supporters who had backed the side.
"I feel broken for the boys, for the fans and for the staff," Kane said after the match. The captain’s voice was heavy as he described his personal disappointment.
"We played the majority of the game well. Then we tried to hold the lead, but at this level that isn’t enough. It’s extremely bitter," he added.

According to Kane, the squad gave everything to reach the final. "We worked so hard for this. The boys gave everything: sweat, blood and tears," he explained. He noted that the first half was difficult to press the ball, but after the break they applied pressure, won the second ball and controlled the game. That period gave them the upper hand before the equaliser. After the equaliser, they could not retain that control, and the momentum shifted away from England. Kane also highlighted many good moments and good matches in the tournament. "We have been knocking on the door for a while. We are close, but we need to find that missing piece in the decisive phase," he said. He reminded that a World Cup demands a lot physically and mentally, and over the past six or seven weeks England showed much. "In the end, that final bit was missing," he concluded.
