Liverpool shortlist Lens manager Pierre Sage to replace Arne Slot

Liverpool have parted ways with Arne Slot after two seasons in charge. The Dutchman led the club to a Premier League title in his debut campaign but was dismissed following a poor second season.

Club owner Fenway Sports Group has identified RC Lens manager Pierre Sage as a primary candidate to replace Slot. Sage guided Lens to a sixth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, securing European competition football.

Liverpool’s technical director, Michael Edwards, is overseeing the managerial search. Edwards previously worked at Lens between 2011 and 2017, building relationships with the club’s hierarchy.

Arne Slot’s departure was announced via a club statement on Friday. Liverpool’s next Premier League match is away to Brighton & Hove Albion on August 17.

The Reds are also considering other candidates, though no further names have been officially confirmed. Sage’s Lens contract runs until 2026, complicating potential negotiations.
