Vincent Janssen eyes unexpected Danish chapter as free agent

🇳🇱
Vincent Janssen, the 32‑year‑old Dutch international striker, will become a free agent on 30 June 2026 after four seasons with Royal Antwerp, and media reports say he is in advanced discussions with Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF about a possible move. During his four‑year spell at Royal Antwerp, Janssen helped the club secure a double of cup and league titles. He appeared in 173 matches and scored 64 goals for the Belgian side. His contract expires on 30 June 2026, leaving him free to choose his next employer. Janssen, a former player of Feyenoord, Tottenham and Fenerbahçe, also spent a season with Monterrey in Mexico. He travelled to Monterrey last night to watch the Netherlands lose to Morocco on penalties in the World Cup 2026 round of 16. Reports from Danish media say Brøndby IF, which finished fourth in the Danish Superliga last season, are in advanced discussions with the striker. A move would give Janssen a new challenge in a different league at the age of 32. Janssen has expressed a preference for remaining on the European continent rather than moving to a so‑called new gold‑mine of football. He could therefore negotiate with a club in the higher part of Europe, according to the reports. As a free agent, Janssen will be able to sign a contract before the start of the next season. The outcome of the talks with Brøndby IF will determine his next destination.
