Tottenham and Inter chase Union SG’s Khalaili as Como enters the race

🇧🇪

Union SG are set to lose another key player this summer, with Anan Khalaili the latest to attract interest. Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race alongside Inter and Como, creating a three-way battle for the Union SG defender.

Anan Khalaili, Union SG’s most expensive signing at €6.5 million, is now the subject of competing bids. Inter sees him as a potential replacement for Denzel Dumfries, while Tottenham have also registered their interest. Como’s sudden involvement complicates the transfer, with reports of a €27 million loan deal with a compulsory purchase option.

Sacha Tavolieri, a transfer expert, described the situation as unexpected, noting that Como’s entry into the dossier was both sudden and unforeseen. Union SG, eager to maximize revenue, are pushing for a fee of at least four times their initial outlay, which would set a new club record.

Union SG paid €6.5 million for Khalaili two years ago from Maccabi Haifa, making him their priciest arrival. His current market value stands at €18 million, but Union SG are aiming higher. The club has two years left on his contract, with an option for an additional season.

Khalaili has reportedly reached a personal agreement with Napoli, but club-level talks remain unresolved. The involvement of Tottenham Hotspur, as reported, adds another layer of competition. The Spurs are among several clubs vying to outbid Napoli, with Union SG hoping to leverage the interest into a record-breaking transfer.

Union SG’s strategy hinges on driving up the price by pitting interested clubs against each other. The club wants more than €15 million, and the growing number of suitors could strengthen their negotiating position. The coming days and weeks will determine whether Khalaili stays or leaves Dudenpark.
