Medical delay forces Inter's Khalaili signing to wait until Monday
Inter Milan have agreed a €25 million deal for Israeli winger Anan Khalaili, but a medical hurdle means the CONI panel will not deliver its verdict until Monday. The delay forces the Nerazzurri to pause the transfer as pre‑season preparations continue in Milan.
Inter pursued Khalaili to fill a gap on the right side of Cristian Chivu’s squad, viewing the winger as a direct replacement for the departing right‑back. The club’s strategy shift aims to reinforce the flank ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The CONI medical panel convened at the Istituto di Medicina e Scienza dello Sport in Via Piranesi near Linate and suspended Khalaili’s clearance. This institute’s decision places the final medical verdict beyond Inter’s direct control.
The €25 million agreement was negotiated by Piero Ausilio with Union Saint‑Gilloise after an earlier bid was rejected. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Khalaili flew into Milan on Friday expecting to finalise paperwork quickly.
Inter’s contingency planning identifies Guéla Doué as the primary alternative at right back, although his profile differs from the Israeli winger’s. Rafik Belghali, the Algerian monitored at Verona last season, is also under consideration, and the regulatory obstacle that blocked a January move has now been removed.
If the medical verdict is negative, Inter will likely activate the backup options. A positive outcome on Monday would see Khalaili join the Nerazzurri’s squad for the upcoming campaign, determining whether the €25 million transfer materialises.
