Gigantische Ajax-coup: Eniola Owolabi secures three‑year deal
Sixteen‑year‑old defender Eniola Owolabi has signed a three‑year professional contract with Ajax, binding him to the Amsterdamse club until the summer of 2029. The agreement was announced through official channels, confirming his promotion from the youth ranks to the senior side.
Ajax describes Owolabi as one of the greatest talents to emerge from its Amsterdamse youth academy. The Gigantische Ajax-beweging values his calmness on the ball and his ability to operate in multiple defensive positions.
In the summer of 2018, Owolabi transferred from Vitesse’s youth system to Ajax, where he progressed through several age groups. Last season he featured for the Ajax O17 side, gaining valuable experience.
Bij Ajax the defender will move up to the O19-selectie next season, the club’s highest youth team. This step aligns with Ajax’s strategy of nurturing home‑grown talent.
"I am a player with calmness on the ball, able to play multiple positions, can play a man out and am defensively solid," Owolabi said. "I have a good pass and think others see my calmness and technical defending."
The three‑year deal secures Ajax’s rights to the promising defender until 2029. Voor Owolabi the contract marks his first professional commitment and a clear pathway toward the first team.
