Bradford's midfield revamp hinges on Leicester's Henry Cartwright
Bradford City needed fresh competition in midfield after a thin squad, and they have completed the signing of 21‑year‑old Henry Cartwright on a three‑year contract for an undisclosed fee. The move aims to plug the gap left by departing midfield options.
Cartwright joined Leicester City at under‑nine level and never made a senior appearance for the Foxes. His development through the academy kept him on the club’s radar despite limited first‑team exposure.
Last season he spent time on loan with Scottish Premiership side Falkirk, where he scored twice in 42 appearances across all competitions. The loan spell gave him regular senior minutes and a taste of competitive football.
Manager Graham Alexander praised the acquisition. "We are delighted to bring Henry in and he will add a real competitive edge to our midfield," Alexander said on the club website.
Alexander highlighted Cartwright’s energy, passing range and ambition to become a genuine first‑team performer. He expects the midfielder to fight for a regular spot and raise the overall standard of the Bantams’ midfield.
The club confirmed the signing on its official website, and Cartwright will report to pre‑season training with the aim of cementing his role. Bradford’s midfield depth should improve as the new season approaches.
