Kelly’s future hinges on Leeds and Villa as Juventus weigh options

🇬🇧

The training ground at Juventus’ Continassa complex buzzed with activity this afternoon as Lloyd Kelly completed another session in Turin. The 27-year-old defender has spent the last six months silencing doubts about his Serie A adaptation, but the club’s stance suggests his next chapter may be elsewhere.

Tuttomercatoweb Leeds United have concrete interest in Kelly, with the Yorkshire side prepared to evaluate a summer move. Juventus have not yet finalised their decision but are actively considering the situation, with Aston Villa also monitoring the defender’s availability.

Villa view Kelly as a potential reinforcement for their backline, with the club also inching closer to signing Emerson Royal. The two moves could be linked, as Villa seek to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season.

Juventus’ valuation of Kelly remains unconfirmed, but TuttoJuve notes that the asking price is likely to be within reach for both Leeds and Villa. The club appears willing to secure a capital gain from Kelly’s departure, prioritising financial return over retention.

In parallel, Juventus are targeting Tarik Muharemovic as a replacement option. New CEO Giovanni Carnevali’s prior relationship with the defender at Sassuolo is expected to streamline negotiations. A resale clause in Muharemovic’s current contract would further reduce Juventus’ outlay, making the deal more cost-effective.

Kaustubh Pandey of GIFN highlighted the strategic nature of Juventus’ approach, noting that the club’s readiness to move on from Kelly reflects a broader financial strategy. The defender’s improved form this season has not altered Juve’s willingness to explore options that strengthen their balance sheet.

For Leeds and Villa, Kelly represents a ready-made Premier League option with Serie A experience. His profile aligns with both clubs’ defensive needs, though Juventus’ pricing will determine whether a deal materialises before the summer transfer window closes.
