Cucurella’s bold pledge: no Barca tattoo, all in for Real Madrid

🇪🇸

Marc Cucurella, the former La Masia graduate who signed for Real Madrid earlier this summer, declared he would rather go bald than get a Barcelona tattoo. His statement underscores a clear break with his former club and a full commitment to Los Blancos.

Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid signals that even Barcelona‑trained players can be swayed by the Merengues’ offer. The Spanish left‑back’s transfer this summer highlighted the pull of the Spanish capital’s footballing stature.

In a recent interview with El Chiringuito, the new Real Madrid signing was asked about any lingering allegiance to Barcelona. He answered that he has no love for the Catalan club and would not consider a Barca crest tattoo.

“I would rather go bald than get a Barca tattoo,” Cucurella said, emphasizing his resolve.

He also expressed childlike excitement about playing for Real Madrid, noting he had watched the club’s documentary on their last Champions League run. “It always seems like nothing will happen, but they know something will happen, that they’re going to pull a remontada,” he added, describing the allure of big European nights.

Cucurella explained that his role at Real Madrid will involve massive defensive responsibilities, especially covering for Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé. “Defending more to cover for Kylian Mbappé & Vini Jr? I have no problem with that,” he said, adding he will do the “dirty work” to win.

Jose Mourinho expects Cucurella to provide the defensive boost needed for the team’s attacking stars.

A photo by Justin Setterfield captures Cucurella’s confident demeanor, while another by Mike Hewitt shows him in training with his new teammates.
