Mats Rots joins Hoffenheim from Twente for reported €16m

🇩🇪 9 June 2026

FC Twente have sold left-back Mats Rots to TSG Hoffenheim with immediate effect. The Bundesliga club is reported to have paid around €16 million for the defender.

Rots has signed a contract with Hoffenheim running until summer 2031. The 20-year-old made his official debut for FC Twente’s first team in August 2023, playing alongside his brother Daan.

Rots made 43 official appearances for FC Twente, scoring five goals and providing five assists. In spring 2025, he was loaned to Heracles Almelo for six months.

Neither FC Twente nor Hoffenheim have commented on the transfer fee. Multiple outlets report the deal is worth €16 million, which would make Rots the club’s highest-ever sale, surpassing Dusan Tadic.

Tadic moved from FC Twente to Southampton for €14 million in summer 2014.
