Rúben Amorim targets Manuel Ugarte for AC Milan this summer
Rúben Amorim, the newly appointed manager of AC Milan, is set on signing Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer. The former Sporting Portugal and Manchester coach hopes to reunite with the player, after Ajax’s winter attempt to bring Ugarte from Manchester United fell through.
During the winter transfer window, Ajax approached Manuel Ugarte, but the midfielder was unable to depart Manchester United. His move was blocked, preventing the Dutch club from securing the Uruguayan talent at that time.
It remains unclear whether Jordi Cruijff still pursues Ugarte’s arrival at Ajax. However, Rúben Amorim has publicly expressed his desire to bring the player to AC Milan.
Amorim previously worked at Sporting Portugal before moving to Manchester, where he coached alongside Ugarte, his former pupil. The shared history fuels his confidence that Ugarte can adapt to Serie A under his guidance.
The AC Milan manager aims to complete the transfer before the start of the new season, targeting a summer arrival at the San Siro. Securing Ugarte would strengthen Milan’s midfield options ahead of upcoming campaigns.
The details of the potential move were reported by the Daily . No official confirmation from either club has been announced yet.
