Mid‑2029 contract fuels Lance Duijvestijn's move to Darmstadt

🇳🇱

A contract that runs until mid‑2029 underpins Lance Duijvestijn's imminent transfer to German side SV Darmstadt 98, a move reported by and expected to be completed after a medical, with the 27‑year‑old midfielder leaving Sparta Rotterdam where he has a contract to 2029.

Lance Duijvestijn, a central midfielder for Sparta Rotterdam, is on the brink of joining SV Darmstadt 98. The German club confirmed the interest through a report.

Duijvestijn spent the previous half‑year on loan at Fortuna Sittard, gaining Eredivisie experience. The transfer to Darmstadt is described as being in an advanced stage, with only final formalities remaining.

His existing deal with Sparta runs until mid‑2029, meaning the Dutch side will receive a transfer fee. The agreement stipulates a medical examination before the move is finalised.

Under manager Maurice Steijn, Duijvestijn saw limited minutes in the first half of the season, prompting the winter loan. He featured in fifteen Eredivisie matches for Fortuna Sittard, matching his total appearances for Sparta.

Fortuna Sittard had hoped the loan would become a permanent transfer, but that did not materialise. Earlier reports also linked English clubs with interest in the midfielder.

SV Darmstadt 98 has already added young talent this window, signing Ibrahim El Kadiri from De Graafschap. The club also secured PSV prospect Nicolas Verkooijen, highlighting a focus on emerging players.

Duijvestijn's move reflects Darmstadt's broader strategy of bolstering the squad with affordable, promising players while Sparta prepares for his departure. The activity underscores a busy market period for clubs seeking value signings.
